The Moon Practice
The Moon Practice orients towards the maxim according to which to improvise, in dancing, is to be free. Rather than proving or disproving this maxim, the practice aims at creating the conditions for the development of the critical study of one’s capacity to experience freedom or the lack thereof in one’s dancing, or performing in more general terms.
The Moon Practice is a principle-based performative practice.
The Moon Practice is an homage to the study of improvisation as I imagine it having been formulated by the artists working in the context of the 60s downtown New York experimental dance scene; as a radically critical, an emergent, and a liberatory performative practice.
