Approach:
I am a Body-Mind Centering® trained Somatic Movement Educator and Therapist.
My approach to client-oriented therapeutic work is greatly informed by—some would say, inseparable from—the life I’m living as a queer & neurodivergent dancer, artist, educator, activist, & scholar.
Most commonly, in my experience, the adjective therapeutic refers to whatever change of perspective enables one to experience ease where they previously experienced trouble or hardship, hope where they previously experienced hopelessness, and lightness where they previously experienced dullness or pain.
Although I work well under pressure and can handle a crisis, I do my best work supporting those who are already engaged or wish to engage in the process of self-discovery and willing to do the work.
Session / content:
As a dancer, I’ve supported myself and others through recovery from injury. Beyond recovery, however, I am interested in the study of function, and working on the side of prevention. To that end, I can offer structural support-oriented work, through movement analysis towards movement repatterning.
As an artist, I am interested in process- and person-oriented work. The kind of work that takes place at the intersection between knowing and feeling, chaos and control, intention and inspiration, invention and discovery. Over the years, I’ve witnessed and supported clients in rediscovering their sense of self, developing their practice, and rekindling their relationships with themselves, their loved ones, and their communities. To that end, I can offer experiment-oriented work, supporting the integration of thinking and doing towards creativity, relationship, and joy.
My special interests and lived experience make me specifically qualified and sensitised towards working with queer, neurodivergent and otherwise disabled folk, folk who’ve been bullied, have experience with anxiety and depression, folk who may be feeling out of place, and are prone to asking existential questions in a way that feels heavy instead of inspiring.
Session / method:
Most sessions begin with an introductory conversation.
Beyond the introductory conversation, a session may involve talking, guided (movement) meditation, the consensual use of non-invasive touch, drawing, writing, sounding, or any other method of creative expression a client may be familiar with and curious to explore.
The choice of method will be determined in dialogue with the client, to specifically address their current capacities and needs.
Session / duration:
first session (in person): 75 minutes.
standard session (in person): 60 minutes.
standard session (online): 60 minutes.
Longer sessions—e.g., 90 or 120 minutes—are available upon request. If you’re specifically interested in a longer session, let me know and we’ll take it from there. Personally, I think 90 minute in person sessions are the most optimal for the type of approach I offer.
Session / location:
Stockholm: Telefonplan (evenings or weekends) or home visit (weekdays).
Abroad: home visit (any time).
Sessions / frequency:
Generally speaking, a single session functions best when thought of as an orientation session. Alternatively, a single session may be useful when addressing a topical or critical need, a focused inquiry, or a single question.
To address a chronic state, a long-term question, or a focused area of interests, I suggest thinking about a series that spans across six to twelve sessions conducted within the period of three to six months. The extent of a series, including the content and the frequency of the sessions, is usually negotiated during or after the first (orientation) session. The plan is usually reviewed after the third session in the series, or at client’s or therapist’s initiative.
A process spanning over an extended period of time—more than twelve sessions—is usually discovered rather than planned. That said, I am extremely interested in long-term engagement. It is under the condition of long-term engagement that we can embody, experience, and become aware of the presence and the influence of time. Time, in its passing, is key to process- and experience-oriented work.
